Who the controller is

Altaica Urban is a service of Altaica SRL, a company under Belgian law, company number BE 0748.885.827. Altaica SRL is the controller for the processing described here. Contact: affiche@alturb.be.

Altaica Urban is an independent service, not affiliated with urban.brussels, Bruxelles Environnement, the Brussels-Capital Region or any commune. Official information is at openpermits.brussels and nova.brussels.

If your permit appears on this site

Permit data comes from Nova, the Brussels-Capital Region's open data service, published under a CC-0 licence, together with UrbIS for location. We obtained it from the public authority, not from you.

We hold the case references, its type, status and outcome, the dates of each step, the address, the description of the works as written in the application, the surfaces by use, the procedural flags and the geometry of the parcel. To that we add our own derived fields: work-type classification, the number of dwellings when the text states it, net surfaces and durations.

We do not hold your name. The open feed contains no applicant, owner or architect names; we neither collect nor infer any, and we link this data to no ownership register, company register or population register.

Lawful basis: legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR — making a public register of building activity usable, and keeping the history that the source itself discards. A Legitimate Interest Assessment has been carried out; you may request a copy.

Retention: for as long as the service exists, including nineteenth-century permits that the region publishes itself. Keeping the history is the purpose of the service.

We cannot write to you individually, having no name and no contact details: we rely on Article 14(5)(b) and publish this notice instead. For any request, write to affiche@alturb.be.

Your right to object, and what we do with it

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and complaint. Because we rely on legitimate interests, you also have the right to object under Article 21.

Our policy is to accept objections relating to a residential address without asking you to justify them. This is stricter than the law requires.

When we accept an objection or a removal request: the public pages for that address and its permits return a “gone” response and stop being indexed, they are removed from our sitemap, and the data remains visible only inside the authenticated professional service, for as long as it remains public at source.

Send your request to affiche@alturb.be. We answer within 30 days.

We cannot correct the underlying record: an error in a permit has to be rectified by the commune or the region, and the correction reaches us within 24 hours. We do correct our own derived fields, such as a wrong classification, on request.

What we deliberately do not do

• We neither sell nor offer any way to contact the people at permit addresses, and our terms of use forbid our customers from doing so.
• We never show requests for urban-planning information at address or parcel level, because such a request usually signals a sale; they appear only in aggregate.
• We show no statistic derived from fewer than ten cases, so no filter can isolate an individual situation.
• We extract nothing from the openpermits.brussels website: we use only the open data service.

If you use the service

The public pages require no account. What follows applies once you create one.

Retention: account data for as long as the account exists, then deleted within 90 days of closure; IP addresses in logs, 30 days; invoices, for the period Belgian accounting law requires, currently seven years.

Processors: Brevo (EU) for transactional email and alert digests, Stripe for payments — we never see or store your card details — and our hosting provider, whose data centres and backups are in the European Union. Each acts under a data-processing agreement.

Analytics: we use a self-hosted Plausible installation, which sets no cookies and builds no cross-site profile. We use no third-party trackers and no advertising networks, which is why there is no cookie banner.

Any material change to this notice will be posted here and, for account holders, announced by email before it takes effect.
